Rescue story
Emma is Cash's mama, and she and Lizzie were the first two donkeys we ever had. If you want to know how a family ends up with a hundred rescued donkeys, start with those two. They are the ones who made us fall in love with donkeys in the first place. We got to meet Emma when she was only a few weeks old. She was a first time mama when Cash came along, and the hormones got the better of her. It happens, and it is nobody's fault, and it is the reason we ended up bottle feeding him around the clock. She has been an amazing mother ever since and has never once had that trouble again. She has raised three boys on this farm now. Cash, then Leo, then Scout. Every one of them turned out well and every one of them is still here. These days she gets to be in the same pasture as all three, which is exactly where she wants to be. And after all these years she and Lizzie are still best friends. The two of them started this whole thing together and they are still side by side.
